“The foundation’s focus on the development and support of young art is connected with my interest as a gallery owner in this category of artists.”

It is more risky and exciting to promote an emerging or mid-career artist with an impressive track record but still in the process of developing an artistic career. I think we are lucky: there is an unusually strong generation of young artists in Russia who, with proper management and support, are able to compete with international colleagues.

Of course, inexperience, ignorance of the “rules of the game” have their drawbacks, and if we talk about the art market, then this is a so-called venture investment with the likelihood of takeoff and at the same time greater risks. In any case, when you are engaged in young art, you must love it, be open, and then the market will be supportive.

The activities of the foundation in the format of a residence are aimed specifically at the development of individual young artists and their artistic practice, but the more “adult” international project “Observatory”, organized with the participation of the foundation in 2016, is waiting for further development. To participate in the residence, the expert council chooses the best project among artists under 35 from the CIS countries, Central Asia and the Middle East by voting. “
